Cancer is a disease that can affect so many parts of your life, health, and even your future. When one has cancer, it becomes difficult to live a normal life, so it's important to know everything about the condition. Not to worry, though! Here in this guide I'll walk you through all the basics of cancer including what cancer is, available treatments, lifestyle effect on promoting cancer, and why you should incorporate integrative medicine in your treatment plan!


Background

A few years ago, I had a medical visit to Michigan for the first eye surgery of my daughter's. A dear friend of mine lives there with her beautiful family. They insisted that we stay at their place for the whole period which was two weeks. During our stay there, I got to know that her husband, M, was recovering from cancer. It was my first time to sit and talk to someone that had cancer. During our talks, they both stressed on how healthy he would eat and would avoid any type of beverages including coffee. The question has always been the same: how and why would cancer hit a person that is on a healthy diet and never smokes or drinks..


A couple years later I got to know that one of my dear friends got cancer herself. It was heartbreaking. Cancer then started hitting more people around me. I felt scared and useless.. What could I do? Each and everyone of them must be suffering from the pain and fear. I started learning more on how they feel and why. All I knew back then was radiation and chemo but never needed to check what's the difference and what each of them could do. Until I started researching..


"Radiation therapy involves giving high doses of radiation beams directly into a tumor. The radiation beams change the DNA makeup of the tumor, causing it to shrink or die. This type of cancer treatment has fewer side effects than chemotherapy since it only targets one area of the body". This quote makes it clear on what chemotherapy would do to the body!


Why Am I Talking About This Subject?

As a researcher, I've come across tons of studies that some meds and cosmetics are found to be guilty of causing cancer. Being an advocate of natural living, I feel responsible to deliver to you important tips at the same place for all you need to defeat this scary monster with the least effect on. your body and quality of life. Now What Exactly Is Cancer?

According to cancer.gov: "Cancer is a disease in which some of the body's cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can start almost anywhere in the human body, which is made up of trillions of cells."


One of the products that is known to cause cancer is talc which exists in many cosmetic products. Talc contains asbestos which causes a rare type of cancer. It can take 10 to 50 years for symptoms of an asbestos-related cancer to appear,,, Exactly.. I see what you are thinking about right now!! Remember that "baby TALC" your mom used to use on your little body? This means every one of us might be in risk. Think more on everything that was applied on your body or you have inhaled it during your life time.. Now you see the links, right?

Natural Ways to Boost Immunity with Cancer

The trick to beating cancer is not only in the treatment; it is rather in minimizing the operation of this disease and stopping its causes which is all about changing lifestyle by applying the following methods:


Method #1 - What to Eat When You Have Cancer

One of the best cancer prevention methods is to eat healthy foods, which actually inhibits cancer cell formation, and therefore prevents cancer from forming in your body. In the past we used to deal with "healthy food" as boiled tasteless fat-free food. This is absolutely an old myth! Healthy food is foods that are considered "anti-inflammatory". Yes, there are foods that cause and elevate inflammation, and these are the most people go to for the fact that they are "convenient".


Not only will healthy food reduce inflammation, but also will boost the immune system which is a huge deal when it comes to cancer patients.


Below is a list of Anti-Inflammatory foods for easier ref:

  • All berries >> strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, add to this cherries

  • All natural orange-colored fruits and veggies

Always go for organic when it's available, as non-organic means they were chemically treated i.e. another source of chemical you don't want! You may refer to keto-friendly foods as this is the closest to what you need to eat.

Method #2 - Reduce Chemicals

When we think chemicals we think of the outside pollution caused by cars and factories. Exposure to chemicals is way more than this. We get ourself exposed to chemicals almost with every product we use. Think about this: personal care products and cosmetics, home cleaning products and detergents, air fresheners, perfumes, hair products like shampoo and hair-protein, and more.. The list is unbelievably HUGE. It's overwhelming isn't it? Now that some studies continue to have medications added to the list of cancer-causing, oh boy!


This brings up a question: What am I supposed to do if everything is harmful around me?!

Here are some tips on how to go green and ditch harmful chemicals:

  1. Choose natural and organic products whenever possible. Many organic items are labeled as such, and it's a great way to make sure that you're avoiding potentially dangerous chemicals.

  2. Read labels. Pay attention to the ingredients in the products you buy, not to the big words on a pack "ammonia free", etc. If there are unfamiliar words, take the time to research what they mean and if they are toxic.

  3. Choose fresh, whole foods. Buying fresh whole foods from the farmers' market is a great way to avoid processed foods.

  4. Avoid plastic containers. Many plastic containers contain BPA, a hormone-disrupting chemical. Switch to glass containers instead.

  5. Use natural cleaning products. There are many natural cleaning products available, such as baking soda, vinegar, and essential oils (ex. oregano, tea tree, and lemon essential oils) that can help you avoid chemicals.

  6. Look up ways for DIY to make your own hygienic and cosmetic products where possible. Essential oils, which hazel, and even alcohol can be used as main ingredients of most of the products. Check out my blog for recipes soon.


Method #3 - Incorporate Essential Oils In Your Daily Routine

Below is a list of best essential oils for cancer with additional roles of each:

  • Frankincense essential oil: has properties that can fight cancer, reduce anxiety, ease side effects of chemo, natural anti-inflammatory, and even kill bacteria that can put a person in risk, which is crucial for immune system. In other words, Frankincense is the KING cancer-fighter.

  • Myrrh: anti-cancer that can reduce replication of cancer cells, anti-oxidant, and anti-bacterial.

  • Clary Sage: natural anti-inflammatory, calming, and may stop cancer cells from increasing and even kill hem.

  • Citrus essential oils that contain D-limonene: inhibit cancer growth and trigger apoptosis (cancer cell suicide). Can slow down and even kill lung-cancer. Essential oils that contain D-limonene are:

  • Lemon (distilled and expressed)

  • Celery seed

  • Mandarin

  • Dill seed

  • Lime (expressed & distilled)

Your first go-to blend should include Frankincense and Myrrh as these together can do wanders! As you add more oils to your cabinet, you can benefit much more. The rule of thumb is to change your blend every other week as the body can adapt to a used blend of essential oil and so with time it becomes ineffective.

Essential oils MUST be diluted with a carrier oil. The easiest way to select the carrier is to first decide which part you are going to use it on. On body parts, the best is organic sunflower seed oil as it's non-greasy and can help distribute the essential oil and keep it diluted. For face, I would rather use jojoba as it's the closest to our skin.


Generic recipe:

In a 1oz bottle, fill half of the bottle with your choice of a carrier oil, then add a total of 15 drops of essential oils (ref above listed), and fill the rest with the same carrier leaving a little space on top. Once done, shake the bottle vigorously to bled them well and then start application.


Application:

If cancer is affecting a certain area of your body, apply the blend right on it, otherwise apply on and around your belly button for best absorption. essential oil gets absorbed within 2 minutes and takes 20 to be in your bloodstream reaching every area. Apply twice, and go up to 6 times in a 24hr period depending on how severe the case is. The most important thing is to space-out applications with at least 4 hours.
