🌿 My Personal Journey Into Cancer Awareness

A few years ago, I traveled to Michigan for my daughter’s first eye surgery. A dear friend there opened her home to me, and during our stay, I learned that her husband, M, was recovering from cancer. It was my first real conversation with someone who had battled this disease.

They shared how strictly he followed a healthy lifestyle, avoiding processed foods, sugar, and even coffee. I kept wondering, How does someone so careful with their health still develop cancer?

A couple of years later, one of my close friends was diagnosed. It was heartbreaking. Cancer seemed to be hitting more and more people around me. I felt scared… and helpless.

That’s when I started researching deeply. Until then, all I knew was chemo and radiation, but I had no idea what each actually did to the body. Then I found this:

“Radiation therapy involves high doses of radiation beams targeting a tumor. These beams alter the DNA of cancer cells, causing them to shrink or die. Unlike chemotherapy, radiation has fewer side effects since it only affects one area of the body.”

This helped me understand how conventional cancer treatments work, but I also discovered that many everyday chemicals, processed foods, and toxins can increase cancer risk. As an aromatherapist and advocate for natural living, I felt a responsibility to share my knowledge and help others protect their health.

🧬 What Exactly Is Cancer?

According to cancer.gov:

“Cancer is a disease in which some of the body’s cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can start almost anywhere in the human body, which is made up of trillions of cells.”

Cancer is caused by genetic mutations that trigger uncontrolled cell growth. Some mutations are inherited, but many are caused by external factors like chemicals, poor diet, stress, and exposure to toxins.

🚨 Everyday Chemicals That May Increase Cancer Risk

One shocking fact I discovered: Talc, a common ingredient in baby powder and cosmetics, has been linked to cancer.

Talc often contains asbestos, a known carcinogen. Exposure to asbestos can lead to mesothelioma, a rare but deadly cancer that may take 10 to 50 years to develop.

If you think about all the baby powder, cosmetics, and personal care products you’ve used over the years… it’s concerning, isn’t it?

The truth is, many common products contain harmful chemicals.

While these treatments are lifesaving, they can also be harsh on the body. That’s why it’s important to support your immune system and overall health—whether you’re undergoing treatment or preventing cancer.
